Class Outline: In this class, students will learn the basics of oil painting and throughout the course of their lessons complete a finished realistic painting of a landscape. Students can expect to learn: - The basic of oil painting supplies and how to use them - Color theory and color mixing - Perspective - Composition - Light and Shadow About the Instructor: Gillian Keir is a professional artist and instructor. She was born in England and traveled throughout Australia, New Zealand and Canada before settling in Oregon. Gillian studied art in Highschool, then went onto further her art education at Santa Monica City College where she received top grades. She's studied with Bill Parsons Gallery in Benicia California and more recently studied with Stephen Bauman, celebrated artist and instructor from New York. She has been a member of numerous art galleries and associations and is anxious to share her knowledge with new students! Number of sessions included in package: Package includes six sessions, once session a week, with each lesson being 3 hours. Students will safely store their unfinished paintings at the studio and continue their work the following week. Time and Date: 1:00pm-4:00pm on Saturday. First session on Sat. January 25th. Last session on Sat. March 1st. Location: Eli's Studio 411 NE F street Age and skill level: Class is open to Adults and Teenagers 14+. No prior skill is required although a general interest in art and some basic drawing or painting experience is recommended. Supplies: Students will need: - 11x16" Canvas - Variety of Paintbrushes (small and medium Flats, small and medium filberts, and one small to medium fan brush) - Palette - Oil paints including colors Titanium White, Cadmium red, Cadmium Yellow, ultramarine Blue, and Ivory Black. These supplies can be either purchased by the student or provided by Eli's Studio. Please select the correct price option when signing up for the class. Photography and video: Eli's Studio may record or take photos during the course of the classes for promotional purposes. Please inform Eli or an Eli's Studio associate if you would prefer to not be photographed.
